Great strides but feet on the ground
From acolyte to head hunter. From the Financieele Dagblad (Financial Daily) – 02 April 2007
Founding father of the company that bears his name,
Wil van der Kruijs looks back on how it all started. An academic and professional career that at first seemed a little random, but which became a straight line to success.

Direct route to entrepreneurship
He had just completed his education when the ‘roaring sixties’ took hold of schools and universities across the land. For Wil van der Kruijs, his route from his youth in the Dutch countryside, via his school years, to his subsequent career, has been a logical path. Management beckoned from the start and his skills for innovation were already apparent in his early career. A foray into the world of university education was short-lived as it lacked, in his words, ‘practicality’. Van der Kruijs quickly discovered the importance of having a broad network. When it was suggested that he try his hand at head hunting the new role fitted like a glove. This quickly led to an entrepreneurial venture. Looking back on his career, van der Kruijs concludes that harmony has played a presiding role. ‘I have taken great strides but my feet have remained firmly on the ground.’
