University of Twente

Dean Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences (BMS)

Founded in 1961, the University of Twente (UT) is a young and entrepreneurial University of Technology that nurtures the leaders of tomorrow through creative and innovative education and sits at the forefront of global technological and social research, which it uniquely combines through its “High Tech, Human Touch” approach.
Being ‘people-first’ is our choice: we serve humanity, aware of the interdependencies between people and our planet, and always aiming to make sure that people can count on us. We have delivered technological innovations in the past, and we will be a part of the innovations of the future. We are aware that technologies change society, and that science’s contribution changes with it. We make sure that our people have the time to grow and deliver quality work. We share our talent and resources on campus, in the region, and with the wider world around us. In the choices we make, large and small, the wellbeing of people is our guiding principle.
At the Faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences (BMS), we are a bunch of tech-savvy social scientists eager to make the world a better place. We are quite as excited about the wonders of humanness as we are about the powers of technology. We bring people and tech together in innovative, responsible and value-creating ways. We do this through academic education, fundamental science and societal problem solving. From Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees (e.g. Psychology, Industrial Engineering and Management, Communication Science, International Business Administration, Management, Society & Technology, Educational Science, Philosophy, Environmental and Energy Management, Public Administration) and Professional Learning & Development programs to cross-disciplinary research programs in any of our five research themes: Emerging Technologies & Societal Transformations; Resilience; Smart Industry; Learning; and Health. Currently, the Faculty holds approximately 550 employees, 400 guest employees and 4.000 students (pré-/master and bachelor). The financial base of the faculty is solid, with opportunities to invest in promising new ideas and initiatives. The past two years we have been able to attract and recruit a considerable number of new, bright and talented employees, enthused by our drive and mission. BMS is looking forward to sustain this energetic development under the UT-strategy SHAPING 2030.
